The government is laying the groundwork for a five-year national digital transformation initiative, information technology minister Jose Vanterpool has said.
In a press conference on 17 August, he revealed that his ministry has received procurement approval for the ‘Anguilla 360-degree Digital Strategy for 2026-2031′.
The roadmap will “strengthen Anguilla’s digital economy, modernise government services, develop a practical national AI agenda, and enhance data resilience and digital sovereignty”, Vanterpool said.

It will be developed with technological support from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) – a regional United Nations organisation that helps governments develop policies and strategies for sustainable economic and social development.
The minister added that the initiative will help Anguilla leverage opportunities arising from the growth of its .ai domain, which has become a significant source of government revenue.
It will also help to build stronger institutions, improve public services, attract innovation and investment, and ensure government continuity and protection of critical national data, he said.
Vanterpool explained that the strategy will be delivered through four pillars – digital economy and innovation, national AI agenda, digital sovereignty and data resilience, and digital government modernisation.
“In practical terms, this strategy is about creating more efficient and responsive government, while also ensuring that the benefits of a digital economy reach the people of Anguilla,” he said.
“It aims to make government services easier and faster to access, strengthen protection of critical public data, create new opportunities for business and investment, and equip the country to leverage emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
“Ultimately, the goal is to improve services, strengthen national resilience and support long-term economic growth that benefits all Anguillians.”
Anguilla’s .ai domain generated EC$196.8 million in revenue during the first half of the year, putting it within striking distance of last year’s total.
In April this year, Anguilla hosted a high-level global summit for .ai domain registrars, bringing together major international tech and digital industry players.
