Anguillian athlete Johniff Gumbs won bronze medals in both the men’s long jump and the men’s high jump at the 2026 ANOCES Championships in St Kitts.
The 18-year-old finished third in the long jump field after producing a personal-best leap of 7.29 metres, earning Anguilla nine championship points.

In a press release on 5 July, Karim Hodge, president of the Anguilla Amateur Athletics Association (AAAA), said Gumbs’ performance was a testament to his dedication, discipline and perseverance.
“To achieve a personal best and earn a bronze medal on the regional stage at just 18 years old is an exceptional accomplishment,” he said.
Gumbs was equally successful in the high jump clearing 1.85m, matching the winning height achieved by the two athletes from Dominica.

The final medal positions were determined on count-back and Gumbs earned Anguilla another nine championship points.
Hodge said: “The association is immensely proud of Johniff and congratulates his coaches, family, and everyone who has contributed to his development.
“We are confident this is only the beginning of even greater success.”
Also representing Anguilla at the competition, held in Basseterre, St Kitts, on 4 and 5 July, was 17-year-old Reikai Rodgers.
He finished fifth in the men’s 1,500m with a time of 4:50.83, earning a valuable five championship points for the team.
Anguilla finished sixth overall in the men’s team championship with 35 points, ahead of Saint Lucia, Montserrat and Grenada.
