Festive season saw arrivals surge at Blowing Point Ferry Terminal

Ferry travel between Anguilla and St Martin/Sint Maarten surged this festive season with strong passenger movement from 25 to 31 December.

The Anguilla Air and Sea Ports Authority released a set of statistics on 7 January, detailing passenger volumes and traffic patterns between the islands.

Over the six days, 8,857 passengers travelled on 239 trips to or from Dutch Sint Maarten and 98 trips to or from French St Martin.

That included 1,622 in from Sint Maarten and 1,226 out, as well as 2,942 in from St Martin and 3,067 out, the authority said.

Peak travel days were on 26 and 27 December with 869 and 812 arrivals, along with 597 and 703 departures recorded.

The strong inbound flow continued on 28 and 29 December, when 771 and 649 passengers arrived at Blowing Point Ferry Terminal.

Then on 30 and 31 December, arrivals decreased and departures increased with 757 and 577 leaving the island via ferry.

“These figures highlight the importance of efficient operations during peak travel seasons,” the authority said in its post.
