Brimigen man faces conspiracy to murder charge, released on EC$215k bail

A 28-year-old man has been charged in Anguilla following an investigation into serious and organised criminality, police have confirmed.

Tariq Rashid Harrigan of Brimigen was arrested on 14 April and formally charged two days later with conspiracy to murder, official corruption and conspiracy to defeat justice.

Harrigan appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on 17 April, where an application was made to remand him in custody. He was instead granted bail of EC$215,000 with one surety.

His bail conditions state he must surrender all passports, remain in Anguilla unless granted permission by the court, and refrain from contacting any police or prosecution witnesses directly or indirectly.

He is also required to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

In a press release on 20 April, the Royal Anguilla Police Force said the case forms part of a “protracted and complex investigation” into serious and organised criminality.

Detectives have executed search warrants at two premises and carried out searches of several vehicles linked to the matter.
