Government of Bermuda donates two ambulances to Anguilla

The Government of Bermuda has donated two state-of-the-art ambulances to Anguilla in an effort to boost the island’s medical response capabilities.

This donation was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Dorothea Hodge, UK representative of Anguilla, the Bermuda Cabinet Office and Government of Bermuda’s ministries and departments.

The ambulances are set to arrive in Anguilla in the coming weeks.

“This act of generosity highlights the value of partnerships across the overseas territories and reflects a shared commitment to improving public services,” a government press release said.

This milestone comes alongside further support pledged by the UK Minister for the Overseas Territories, Stephen Doughty, last month.

During his inaugural visit to Anguilla from 2 to 4 November, he opened the new emergency 911 control room, a key public safety facility partly funded by the UK government.

He also announced the UK’s commitment to providing two additional ambulances and a coastal search-and-rescue vessel.

In the press release, Premier Ellis Webster said: “These parallel contributions represent a shared vision for a stronger, more resilient Anguilla.

“They are a testament to the spirit of collaboration between the UK, Bermuda, and Anguilla, and our commitment to improving the lives of all Anguillians.”

The government has said it will provide further updates on the arrival and deployment of the four ambulances in due course.
