Eight talented calypsonians advance to Anguilla’s 2026 Calypso Monarch finals

Eight of Anguilla’s most talented calypsonians have secured their places in this year’s Bro Lee Senior Calypso Monarch finals.

The finalists emerged from a field of 15 artists who brought the Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre alive with powerful lyrics and energetic performances during the semi-finals on 19 July.

Winning over the crowd and securing their spots were Mighty Gossip, Hot Shot, Mr Decent, De Messenger, His Majesty Baker Jr, Springer, Singing Vero and Queen B.

The calypsonians will now vie for the coveted Calypso Monarch title at the same venue on 6 August, with Queen Roxxy returning to defend her 2025 crown.

Tickets cost US$25 or EC$65 for adults and US$12 or EC$30 for children.

The competition is part of the 2026 Anguilla Summer Festival, which runs from 10 July to 9 August with a month-long programme of events celebrating the island’s culture, music and community spirit.

The festival line-up includes boat races, parades, pageants and live music, with popular events such as the Poker Run, Miss Anguilla Pageant and Grand Parade of Troupes returning this year.

The Leeward Islands Calypso Monarch and Band Clash competitions will also feature in the festival programme, showcasing the region’s musical talent.
