Anguilla has been placed under a drought warning following a prolonged period of below-average rainfall, with dry conditions expected to continue over the coming months.
Residents are being urged to conserve water as government authorities monitor the situation and assess the potential impact on water supplies and agriculture.
The Department of Disaster Management announced the warning on social media on 28 August, adding that there is an increased risk of water shortages.

“Residents and businesses are encouraged to use water wisely and conserve wherever possible,” the department said.
“Simple actions such as repairing leaks, limiting non-essential water use and reducing outdoor watering can help protect our valuable water supply.
“Drought affects everyone. By taking water conservation measures now, we can help ensure that sufficient water remains available for essential needs throughout this dry period.”
The warning, which will be in place until 31 October, comes as the government continues to work on replacing major sections of Anguilla’s ageing water infrastructure.
In the government’s latest budget, EC$9 million was committed to cover trenching, pipe procurement and the repiping across the “worst zones” in Anguilla, water minister Kyle Hodge said.
