Anguilla’s businesses and key stakeholders are being invited to help shape proposed new sports legislation.
A consultation meeting is taking place at the Atlin Noraldo Harrigan Parliamentary Building in The Valley on Thursday, 3 September, at 5pm.
It has been organised to give the business community an opportunity to discuss the Bill for the Sports Act 2026 and provide feedback on its proposed provisions.

Particular attention will be given to sections 57, 58, 59 and 60 of the bill.
These provisions allow people that have been selected to represent Anguilla in organised sport to take authorised leave from work, generally unpaid, without the absence being treated as misconduct.
The bill also protects employees from dismissal or penalties for taking sporting leave, while setting out guidelines on the duration, frequency and application of such leave across different sectors.
Organisations are required to submit written comments, observations and concerns regarding the bill in advance of the consultation.
This will allow for a comprehensive discussion and enable your representatives to participate meaningfully, the Department of Sports said in a Facebook post.
Each organisation is asked to nominate two senior representatives to attend.
These should include the chief executive officer or managing director and another senior executive, such as a finance or operations director or designated senior manager.
The Ministry of Sports has prioritised expedited passage of the bill.
“We kindly urge you to treat this invitation with the utmost urgency and confirm your attendance at your earliest convenience,” the department said.
“Your participation is essential to shaping a strong and effective Sports Act for the benefit of our nation.”
