Anguilla Aquastars claim impressive medal haul at St Maarten sprint meet

The Anguilla Aquastars delivered an impressive performance at Coach Franky’s Sprint Invitational in St Maarten, claiming 11 gold and two silver medals.

All of the squad’s nine competing swimmers recorded at least one personal best with some setting new marks in all of their events during the competition on 14 June.

Anguilla Aquastars coach Breanna Webster told Anguilla Focus that she was incredibly proud of the swimmers’ performance and their impressive collection of medals.

“The hard work, dedication and determination of our nine member team were on full display, and they represented Anguilla with excellence both in and out of the pool,” she said.

The squad’s K’La Blanchard dominated the girls’ nine to 10-year-olds category, taking gold in both the 100 metre breaststroke and 50m breaststroke events with strong performances.

In the girls’ 13 to 14 division, Kahde Blanchard produced an impressive run, winning gold in the 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly events.

Meanwhile, Kaylani Richardson won gold in the 100m backstroke, 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle events in the same category.

Kayleigh Vanterpool secured another gold medal for Anguilla in the girls’ 15 to 17 age group’s 100m freestyle event, continuing the team’s strong form.

In the boys’ events, Vashon Vanterpool won gold in the 100m breaststroke for the 11 to 12 age group with a powerful swim.

Jediah Gill added to the medal tally with gold in the 50m breaststroke and silver in both the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly.

Anguilla Aquastars’ mixed 100m freestyle sash relay team of Kaylani Richardson, Kahde Blanchard, Jediah Gill and Josiah Minott claimed a silver medal finish.

Josiah Minott and Jaynecia Babrow both recorded personal bests across all three of their events –  50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and 100m freestyle.

Vikari Richardson also achieved personal bests in the 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly events.
