Speaking at the awards ceremony, Acting Governor Perin Bradley highlighted the unique nature of The Duke of Edinburgh Cup and the importance of supporting youth initiatives.
“Not only is this tournament prestigious – but its also about the commitment to service and giving back to the young people, because one thing you can never go wrong with is investing in our youth,” he said.
Sports minister Cardigan Connor thanked everyone involved in the event, singling out Rick Van Horne and Jason Chapman for their contributions.
“I really appreciate what you’ve done to help the development of youth golf – the youth in Anguilla – and it’s not just today, you guys have been doing that for the last three, four years,” he said.
He went on to say how pleasing it was to see five young Anguillan players from Aurora’s junior development programme now competing, some for the first time over 18-holes.
