A 72-year-old man has died after being struck by a car in South Hill – marking the second road death in Anguilla this year.
Livingston Hughes from South Hill sustained fatal injuries when he was hit by a green Mitsubishi Jeep just after 7.20pm on 27 November while walking in the area.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to seek medical attention, however they were found to have no major injuries, the Royal Anguilla Police Force told Anguilla Focus.

The police Traffic Department is investigating the incident and has made one arrest.
Acting Commissioner of Police Haslyn Patterson and Acting Governor Perin Bradley issued a joint statement on 28 November offering “deepest condolences” to Hughes’ family and loved ones.
“Road safety remains one of the Royal Anguilla Police Force’s key policing priorities,” they said.
“This incident marks the second road fatality recorded in Anguilla for 2025, underscoring the urgent need for greater caution on our roads.”
The statement said the police force continue to see the devastating impact that collisions have on families and communities, and is urging all road users to play their part in preventing further loss of life.
“Motorists are reminded to slow down, avoid distractions, and obey all traffic regulations at all times,” Patterson and Bradley said.
“Pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to remain visible, use designated crossings or pathways where available, and stay alert to changing road conditions.
“Every individual’s commitment to responsible road use is essential to creating a safer environment for everyone who lives in and visits Anguilla.”
The statement appealed to members of the public who are first on the scene of any collision to keep a safe distance and respect police cordons.
“This is critical for the preservation and collection of evidence, allowing investigators to accurately determine the circumstances surrounding an incident,” the pair added.
The first road fatality this year took place on 16 January when 60-year-old Royston Wilson of West End was killed in a collision near Anguilla Community College.
He was driving a Nissan March which collided with a Toyota Mark X driven by 20-year-old Theomar A Rowe of South Hill who was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
