Princess Cedeno-Fleming wins Anguilla’s letter writing contest for second year

For the second consecutive year, Princess Cedeno-Fleming, a student at Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, has won Anguilla’s National Letter Writing Competition.

The competition is held each year to promote literacy, encourage the art of letter writing and raise awareness of the postal service’s role in society.

“Her winning entry demonstrated outstanding creativity, clear articulation, and a thoughtful perspective on the competition’s theme,” the General Post Office said in a press release on 9 October.

The theme for this year’s competition, organised with the Department of Education, was, ‘Imagine you are the ocean. Write a letter to someone explaining why and how they should take good care of you.’

To celebrate her achievement, Princess and her parents visited the General Post Office on World Post Day where they met with the management team.

During the visit, Princess shared her excitement about the win and the opportunity it represents for young people in Anguilla.

“I am so happy to be the winner of the letter-writing competition,” Princess said in the press release. “It shows what the youth of Anguilla can do when given the opportunity.

“I would like to encourage all my friends and other young people to take part in initiatives like this – it’s a great way to express yourself and show your talents.”

The management team commended Princess not only for her winning entry but also for her inspiring words and leadership.

Her letter was submitted to the Universal Postal Union (UPU) to represent Anguilla in the International Letter-Writing Competition 2025.
