Government to award $500 festive grant to Anguilla’s over-70s

Anguilla’s senior citizens are set to receive a EC$500 gift from the government this year, as part of a programme to support older residents.

Anyone who is officially resident in Anguilla and will be at least 70 years old by 31 December is eligible for the Season’s Spark Grant.

Those already receiving social security benefits will have the money automatically delivered through the Anguilla Social Security Board on or before 15 December.

“If it hasn’t arrived by then, simply contact social security or the Ministry of Finance,” the government said in a press release on 28 November.

Seniors not receiving social security benefits can register in person with their ID at the Treasury Department between 1 and 15 December.

Payments will be made into bank accounts on or before 18 December, while those without a local account will receive a cheque after 24 December.

“The Government of Anguilla is happy to spread warmth, joy, and support to our beloved seniors during this year’s holiday season,” the press release said.
