A Class boats are at least 28 feet long, are crewed by up to a dozen sailors, and are known for their speed and competitiveness.

This year’s A Class boat racing season began with the A Class Knock Out Challenge in Road Bay on 22 February, and saw the only competitors – De Wizard and Light and Peace – take first and second place.

De Wizard, featuring crew member and government minister Jose Vanterpool, took the top spot again in the A Class Easter Warm Up in Road Bay on 29 March.

Since then, races have included the Festival Del Mar on 5 April, the Mayor Solaire Cup on 24 May, Malliouhana Whit Monday on 25 May, Anguilla Day Premier’s Cup on 1 June and West Fest on 14 June.

The schedules for both the A Class and B Class races are available from the Anguilla Boat Racing Association here.

The public is invited to cheer on the teams throughout the season and enjoy the excitement of the island’s traditional boat racing.
