Bad Cox diver, 50, dies following ‘incident at sea’ at Lockrum Bay

A 50-year-old man from Bad Cox has died after what police have described as an “incident at sea” while diving at Lockrum Bay.

Shortly after 8pm on Thursday, 29 January, the Joint Emergency Services Control Room received a report requesting ambulance assistance, saying the man had been struck by a fish.

Officers from the Royal Anguilla Police Force, the Anguilla Fire and Rescue Service and emergency medical services staff attended the scene at the bay near Little Harbour.

The injured man was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, police said in a press release on 30 January.

An investigation into the incident has begun. It is being treated as a suspicious death pending further enquiries and forensic examinations.

The identity of the man has not yet been officially released.
