Another 10 small and micro businesses receive $10,000 government grants

Ten more companies in Anguilla have been given EC$10,000 as part of the government’s ongoing micro and small business grant programme.

The money is to help with costs such as staff training and development, new technology, marketing and product development.

This is the second round of grants from the Ministry of Economic Development, following the November distribution that saw 10 companies each receive a share of $100,000.

Speaking during a government press conference on 10 December, Minister Kyle Hodge said the new round of grants was funded through savings made across other departments and ministries.

He described them as “an early Christmas present” and went on to name the 20 “diversified set of businesses” in total that received the support over the past few months.

They are: 18.63 Biodiesel, Island Chill Garden Lounge and Plant Nursery, NBB, Pure Co, Hillside Treats, The Pink Spot, Quality Farms, Island Greens, Lady D Boutique, Cheesecakin’, Art by Tangie, AXA Quick Picks, My Anguilla Experience, Healing Hands, Explore Anguilla Gateway, TK Exclusive, Lumineer Kayaking, Sharice Richardson Vending Machines, Lady Empress, and Quick Stop.

Hodge first announced the grant programme during a press conference on 26 May during which he encouraged eligible business owners to apply.

At the time he said to qualify, a business must be wholly owned by an Anguillian permanent resident for at least three years and be based in Anguilla.

Existing businesses must be registered and hold a valid business licence. They must also be classified as micro or small enterprises.

Micro businesses have one to five employees and an annual turnover under $100,000, while small businesses have six to ten employees and an annual turnover between $100,000 and $250,000.

“I encourage those businesses that didn’t make it through to the top 20 to reapply when we open up the call again for more business grants in 2026,” Hodge said.
