Anguilla to hold 2025 general election on 25 and 26 February

Premier Ellis Webster has set the dates for Anguilla’s general election as 25 and 26 February, giving candidates just one month to secure voter support.

He made the announcement at the Anguilla Progressive Movement‘s lively campaign rally for District 2 party representative Lennox Vanterpool on 27 January.

After chanting “ring the bell” to a excitable crowd, Webster declared that he had written to Governor Julia Crouch requesting the Anguilla House of Assembly be dissolved after the 28 January sitting.

He then announced the poll dates, before calling out: “Anguilla it’s time for you to vote,” as a bell rung, music played and attendees cheered and blew horns.

“It is time for you to say we want five more years of this progressive administration. We want five more years of this government. We want five more years,” the premier said.

‘Reclaiming hope’

Responding to the announcement on 28 January, leader of the Anguilla United Front, Cora Richardson-Hodge, called it “a defining moment for our country”.

“These dates are not just days on the calendar – they represent a turning point for our nation. They represent your power, your voice and your choice to shape Anguilla’s future,” she said.

“This election is about more than promises or personalities. It is about the kind of Anguilla we want to build together.

“It is about reclaiming hope, restoring opportunity, and ensuring that every single person has a stake in the future of our beloved island.”

She told viewers that the power is in their hands on 25 and 26 February to choose leadership with vision, and a team with integrity and heart.
