Family, friends and community members gathered at the Just Tender Care Nursing Home in North Side this week to celebrate Anguilla’s newest centenarian.
Codvis Edora Connor turned 100 years old on 6 November, a milestone that drew warm tributes and reflections on her long life and contributions to the community.
Among those attending the celebrations were Governor Julia Crouch, Deputy Governor Perin Bradley, and several government ministers.

Mrs Connor, born on 6 November 1925, married Samuel Eddie Connor at 16. They had six children before he passed away at 36, when she was just 32 and pregnant with their seventh child.
She went on to become a successful entrepreneur, with ventures spanning from running a shop to boat ownership, earning recognition from the Government of Anguilla for her business achievements.
Mrs Connor was also a devout member of the Bethel Methodist Church in South Hill, holding various positions including within Anguilla’s Women’s Ministry.
A devout gardener, “blessed with a green thumb” she grew abundant fruit, vegetables and flowers, and participated in numerous agricultural exhibitions.
Several attendees stood to offer heartfelt words of appreciation for Mrs Connor, with her granddaughter Dr Wilma Proctor describing her as “a women of grace, strength and unwavering strength”.
“At 100 years old, Codvis Edora Connor has left an indelible mark on the entrepreneurial, spiritual and social fabric of Anguilla,” she said.
“Her story is one of vision, perseverance and love – a story that continues to inspire generations to come. We thank God for her life, her faith and the extraordinary legacy she has built.”
A statement from the Governor’s Office following the event said: “It was a heartwarming occasion filled with reflection, celebration and appreciation for a life well-lived.”
