Albert AR Lake Cricket Classic: Anguilla secure 72-run win over Sint Maarten

Anguilla produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat the Sint Maarten Combined National Team by 72 runs in the inaugural Albert AR Lake Cricket Classic.

Batting first, the home side posted an imposing 167 for 5 from 100 balls, built on a half-century from Andros ‘Simba’ Bowen, who anchored the innings throughout before accelerating to finish on 51 not out.

His knock provided the platform for a competitive total and set the tone for Anguilla’s dominance during the competition at James Ronald Webster Park on 12 April.

Bowen was well supported in the middle order by Dimitri Adams, who contributed a fluent 37, and Ashley White, who added a steady 30 as Anguilla maintained scoring pressure.

The visitors had moments of control with the ball, particularly through Amarius Harris, who delivered an excellent spell of 4-7-2, applying pressure through tight lines and crucial breakthroughs.

Akeem Charles also chipped in with figures of 4-34-1, helping to contain Anguilla at key stages of the innings.

In reply, Sint Maarten were unable to build any sustained momentum against a disciplined Anguillian attack.

They were eventually bowled out for 95 in 92 balls, with only a few batters managing to reach double figures.

Randell Longville top-scored with 19, while Dimeon Williams made 17 and Devanand Singh added 14 not out, but regular wickets prevented any realistic chase.

Anguilla’s bowlers shared the damage effectively. Whaldama Brooks led the attack with 2-8-3, while Bowen capped a standout all-round performance with 2-19-2.

Adams also impressed with 4-24-2, tightening control through the middle overs and ensuring there was no route back for Sint Maarten.

Bowen’s match-winning contribution with both bat and ball earned him the Man of the Match award, reflecting a decisive individual impact on a comprehensive team victory.
