It is “getting closer and closer to move-in day” at the new customs cargo facility at Clayton J Lloyd International Airport, according to the Government of Anguilla.
In a Facebook post on Monday, 29 July, the government said the crew from Leeward Construction AXA is busy completing the work on the parking lot.
“Inside the building, cleaning and final touches are the order of the day,” the post read.
“This phase of the new customs cargo facility at Clayton J Lloyd International Airport signals a shift to more activity at the new terminal.”
Public and private stakeholders joined together for the groundbreaking ceremony at the Long Ground facility on 19 January.
At the time, infrastructure minister Haydn Hughes said the building would be “modern, fit for purpose and will transform the delivery of air cargo and service”.
“There is no doubt that this airport development will transform Anguilla’s economy,” he said, adding that “while we have done much, the best is yet to come. Anguilla’s best days lay ahead”.
During a 1 July government press conference, Hughes said the building would be complete by August with full operations beginning on 1 September.
