Orealia Kelly Primary School emerged victorious in this year’s Primary Numeracy League Competition, showcasing exceptional mathematical skills to clinch the title.
The school’s four-player team secured a total of 150 points in the closely contested event, just outperforming their competitors to take the top spot.
Held on Thursday, 20 February, at the Teachers’ Resource Centre, the competition featured three government schools with students from grades three, four, five and six.
The other schools to take part were Adrian T Hazell Primary School which came second with 140 points and Alwyn Allison Richardson Primary School which received 120 points and third place.
Contestants took part in three rounds.
In the first, a single student from each school demonstrated their ability to quickly answer a series of timed multiplication tables questions.
The second round was modelled on the popular game show Jeopardy, with students competing in pairs within their schools.
Round three was the mathematics vocabulary round which tested students’ knowledge and comprehension of essential terminology.

Gabriel Leveret from Alwyn Allison Richardson Primary School emerged the winner of the first round after an intense tiebreaker against Kedar Sangaraju of Orealia Kelly Primary School.
But despite the triumph, Orealia Kelly emerged as the overall winners.
The Primary Numeracy League Competition is organised by curriculum officer of mathematics Shana Delaney and it has strong corporate support from platinum sponsor ANGLEC.
Participants received prizes sponsored by Four Seasons Resort and Residences, Liberty Cooperative Credit Union, FLOW and Taste to the Tee.
