A beautifully shot short video detailing the past 50 years of Anguilla Summer Festival is available to watch online now.
Simply titled ’50’, the cinematic film does not just feature past winners and images of revelry, but describes the root of the unique event, a government Facebook post said.
“The film opens with a reenactment of enslaved Africans arriving on Anguilla’s shores some 400 years ago,” the post explained on 28 June.
“It then uses archival footage of Anguillian culture and past summer festivals before showing highlights of the island’s modern interpretation of the festival.
“It is a true walk through the evolution of Anguilla’s greatest show.”
Anguilla Summer Festival, held every year during late July and early August, celebrates joy, cultural expression, and community.
This year’s 50th anniversary festival, titled ‘The Family Reuinion’, features dozens of activities and events including fetes, boat races, calypso competitions, bar crawls and more.
