Anguilla claims multiple titles at ECGA Golf Tournament and Championships

Anguilla won multiple team and individual titles at the 2026 Eastern Caribbean Golf Association (ECGA) Tournament and Championships.

The Anguilla Golf Association hosted this year’s event at Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Course, where 12 regional teams competed alongside individual amateur golfers for honours.

Participants competed in two competitions from 9 to 11 October – the longstanding 36-hole two-day tournament, first held in 1975, and the new 54-hole individual championship.

Following a weekend featuring more than 500 rounds of golf, Anguilla was named Low Net Champion, while Antigua and Barbuda claimed the Low Gross Champions title.

Anguilla also secured team net titles in the men’s (under 50), ladies’ and seniors’ (50 to 59) categories, outperforming regional rivals in all three divisions.

The island’s individual winners included Nathalie Le Senechal, who claimed the ladies’ gross title, Eva McClean, who won the ladies’ net category, and Larry Stott, who took the seniors’ net award.

St Kitts and Nevis won the men’s team gross title, Antigua and Barbuda took the ladies’ title, St Lucia won the seniors’ team gross and super seniors’ team net categories, while Martinique claimed the super seniors’ (60 and older) team gross award.

Individual gross winners were Adrian Norford of St Kitts and Nevis in the men’s category, Charles Blake of St Kitts and Nevis in the seniors’ category and Gerard Saint-Aime of Martinique in the super seniors’ category.

Antigua and Barbuda’s Stuart Gordon won the men’s net title, while Vincent Esor of Martinique claimed the super seniors’ net award.

This year’s event marked a milestone, with the individual championship gaining World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) status for the first time.

Eric West of Bermuda claimed the inaugural Eastern Caribbean WAGR Champion title with a gross score of seven over par across 54 holes.

The opening ceremony at the Great House was attended by Premier Cora Richardson Hodge, sports and tourism minister Cardigan Connor and Anguilla Golf Association representative Val Banks.

Noel Egan, president of the Anguilla Golf Association and ECGA, delivered the keynote address, translated into French by general secretary Meggan Cavalier.

At the end of the weekend, the awards were presented at a dinner at the Great House attended by minister Connor and ministerial advisor Evans McNiel Rogers.

Egan told Anguilla Focus: “The tournament course proved a challenging trial for all of the golfers, most of whom were playing in Anguilla for the first time.

“Yet despite the serious competitive nature of the sport, they were all complimentary of the course conditions and the slick organisation of the event.”

He said the event was a “huge success for all involved” and allowed Anguilla’s “wonderful beaches, restaurants and fantastic hospitality” to be showcased.

Egan thanked the Government of Anguilla, the Anguilla Tourism Board, the Sports Department and corporate sponsors for their support.

These included NCBA Limited, ANGLEC, Topper’s Rhum, Anguilla, Grand Vins de France, Safe Cargo Services, King Ocean Services, Hi-Tek Signs, Lloyds Live, D Richards and IAH Productions.

He also thanked Richard Phillips and Scott De Long.
