Concacaf Nations League: Aruba defeats Anguilla 2-0 in Group B clash

Anguilla’s national men’s team remain without a win in the 2026/27 Concacaf Nations League after Aruba secured a 2-0 victory in their second Group B fixture.

Aruba applied pressure throughout the opening half at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, with Rovien Ostiana among those testing Anguilla as they searched for the breakthrough.

Anguilla also created opportunities, including an effort from Jayvon Lloyd in the 18th minute, but the teams went into half-time goalless.

Aruba broke the deadlock eight minutes after the restart in the 53rd minute when Ostiana found the net to make it 1-0.

Anguilla looked for a response, with Tarique Jackson having an effort on goal in the 61st minute before the team made a series of substitutions.

Nathaniel Owen had another opportunity in the 84th minute as Anguilla continued to search for an equaliser.

But Aruba sealed the victory four minutes later when substitute Justin Figaroa scored to make it 2-0.

Anguilla did not earn any points as a result of the loss on 29 September, leaving the team last in the Group B table in League C with zero points.

The fifth edition of the Concacaf Nations League kicked off on 23 September with a new campaign featuring all 41 Concacaf Member Associations across Leagues A, B and C.

The September to October FIFA match window will feature 74 group stage matches across the three leagues and include the tournament’s historic 500th match.

The competition will continue in November before culminating in March 2027 with the Concacaf Nations League finals.

The league will also serve as the sole pathway to the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup, with teams qualifying directly or advancing to additional qualification rounds based on their performance.

Concacaf, or the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, is one of FIFA’s six continental confederations, servicing 41 member associations.
