Seven honoured at Anguilla’s 2026 Man of Action Awards ceremony

Seven men were recognised for their contributions to Anguilla during the 2026 Man of Action Awards held as part of this year’s Men’s Week celebrations.

The awards, presented by the Gender Affairs Unit, recognise achievements in areas including community service, leadership, mentorship, health and wellness, sport and the arts, and lifetime achievement.

The initiative, formerly known as the Men’s Week Awards, was rebranded after a decade of recognising more than 150 outstanding men across the island.

In addition, Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Evan ‘Styler’ Anderson was recognised for more than five decades of promoting health, fitness and personal development in Anguilla.

A pioneer of the island’s fitness industry, he founded Styler’s Fitness Centre, one of Anguilla’s first fully equipped gyms, and has inspired generations through his work as a fitness trainer and coach.

He also established Anguilla’s first karate and taekwondo school, using martial arts to teach discipline, confidence and resilience to young people for decades.

The Gender Affairs Unit said his lifelong commitment to health, wellness and youth development has left a lasting legacy on the island.

Anderson and the other recipients were selected from 36 public nominations submitted across seven award categories and assessed by an independent selection committee.

The men were formally honoured during the National Men’s Conference at Red Dragon Disco in South Hill on 20 June, one of the flagship events of Men’s Week 2026.

The week, which took place from 14 to 21 June, was observed under the theme, ‘MEN showing up: Guide, connect, build’, grounded in the pillars of mentorship, engagement and nurture (MEN).

The theme encouraged men and boys to be present, purposeful and intentional in the lives of those around them, and recognised their roles as fathers, mentors, partners, leaders and community members.

It also highlighted issues such as mentorship gaps, social isolation, wellbeing, identity and the need for stronger support systems.

The conference, held with the Community Services Planning Unit, also featured a domino competition, a health corner, a retreat, exercise sessions, discussions, networking opportunities and more.
