Residents across Anguilla can expect daily power cuts of up to three hours until 2 September, as ANGLEC manages reduced generation capacity.
The power company said the rotating outages are needed while it works to restore generating units that are currently out of service due to a mechanical issue.
In a press release on 28 August, ANGLEC said repairs are continuing around the clock, while arrangements are being made to bring two additional generating units, including one from Puerto Rico.

“Thus far, the rotation has been managed in feeder sections, with outages lasting approximately two to three hours at a time,” the company said.
ANGLEC added that it aims to keep outages to a maximum of three hours, although cuts could last longer if conditions require an extension.
“In the event an extension is required, we endeavour to give prior notice to the public via our social media notices and communication with our radio and media partners,” it said.
Power cut schedule
The temporary power cut schedule began at about 4pm on Friday, 28 August. ANGLEC said the rotation is expected to continue daily in the following pattern:
- 8am to 11am – East Feeder: Sandy Hill to Island Harbour
- 11am to 1pm – Little Dix to Island Harbour
- 1pm to 4pm – Lower South Hill, Back Street, South Hill, Spring Path, Sandy Ground and North Hill
- 4pm to 7pm – East Feeder: The Forest, Quarter, Cauls Bottom and Sandy Hill
- 7pm to 10pm – Northwest Feeder: The Valley area
- 1am to 4am – Lower South Hill, Back Street, South Hill, Spring Path, Sandy Ground and North Hill (optional, depending on load)
ANGLEC said the schedule may change depending on electricity demand and system conditions, and two areas may need to be affected at the same time. Power may be restored earlier if capacity improves.
‘Least impact’
ANGLEC said its teams are making a special effort to maintain a rotation schedule that has the least possible impact on customers while allowing efficiency for its internal operations.
“Every available measure is being taken to restore the reliable standard of service our customers know and expect from ANGLEC as quickly and safely as possible,” the company added.
“Investigations and repairs are continuing around the clock, and arrangements are underway to bring new generating units to Anguilla.”
ANGLEC acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the outages, saying the load management measures are necessary to prevent wider instability and maintain electricity service across the island.
The company said it will continue to provide updates as repairs progress, replacement generating units arrive and generation capacity improves.
“ANGLEC sincerely thanks our customers for their continued patience and understanding as our teams work diligently to restore full generation capacity,” the company said.
