Young Anguillian footballer signs with Premier League club’s academy

Talented young footballer Jaeron John has signed with the academy of Premier League club Burnley FC.

As part of the youth development system, he will compete alongside the club’s youth players in England and train with the aim of eventually progressing to the professional team.

The Anguilla Football Association (AFA) announced the signing in a Facebook post on 15 March, calling it “another proud moment for Anguillan football”.

“The young Anguillian talent has continued to make strides in the game, rising through local and regional development pathways with hard work, discipline and commitment,” the association said.

“Jaeron has been part of the growing youth movement in Anguilla, representing the promise of a new generation of footballers coming through the system.”

AFA said Jaeron was part of the Spartans FC U-15 squad that captured the AFA Boys Under-15 Youth League title.

His development has also been linked to the FIFA Talent Development Scheme in Anguilla, where he was highlighted as one of the programme’s notable individual success stories.

In addition, as an U-15 player, he had already earned a trial at Everton FC’s academy.

“Jaeron’s story is one of talent meeting opportunity. It is also a reminder that football in Anguilla continues to grow, and that young players from our island can dream big and compete on bigger stages,” AFA said.

“His achievement is not only personal, but one the entire Anguillian football community can celebrate.”

The association congratulated Jaeron on his accomplishment and wished him continued success.
