Public and private stakeholders joined together for the groundbreaking ceremony for the customs cargo facility in Long Ground on Friday, 19 January.
In a Facebook post from Anguilla Tourist Board, infrastructure minister Haydn Hughes said: “The customs cargo building will be modern, fit for purpose and will transform the delivery of air cargo and service.”
Work is expected to begin on Monday, 22 January, with a projected completion date of July.
Hughes said: “There is no doubt that this airport development will transform Anguilla’s economy,” adding that “while we have done much, the best is yet to come. Anguilla’s best days lay ahead”.
