Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School names new deputy principal of pastoral

Dedicated educator Rondy Isles-Carty has been named the new deputy principal of pastoral at Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School (ALHCS).

The head of year for form two at Campus B said he considers it an honour to serve the people of Anguilla in this new role, a Department of Education press release said on 21 August.

“This appointment represents more than a career milestone,” Isles-Carty said. “For me, it is a continuation of a lifelong commitment to student development, educational leadership, and national service.”

Prior to beginning his career in education, he worked as an assistant customs officer in the Anguilla Customs and Excise Department.

This early experience in public service helped to instil discipline, attention to detail, and a deep respect for the role of governance in society, the press release said.

Isles-Carty then joined the Department of Education in 2004 as a primary-level teacher before moving to secondary education in 2011, where he continued to develop his career in the field.

His only break came during 2015 to 2016 when he worked at the Department of Youth and Culture as senior programme officer for youth development.

This role focused his energies on advancing national youth policy and designing programmes that empowered young people across the island.

He has served across a range of roles including un-certificated and then certificated teacher, graduate teacher, head of humanities, and most recently, head of year for forms one and two.

He has also lectured as adjunct faculty in the Primary Education Programme at the Anguilla Community College, where he helped train and mentor the next generation of teachers.

Isles-Carty has chosen to dedicate himself to the field of education, undertaking the requisite teacher training and pursuing graduate degrees in education and management, the press release said.

His academic achievements include a Certificate in Teaching at the Primary Level from the Joint Board of Teacher Education/University of the West Indies (JBTE/UWI), a Bachelor of Education from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, and a Master of Science in Management Studies from the UWI Open Campus.

He has also completed several professional development courses that have strengthened his leadership capacity and instructional insight, the Department of Education said.

Beyond education, Isles-Carty continues to serve as the founding and senior pastor of Kingdom Citizens Church, where he leads efforts in spiritual transformation, community outreach, and nation-building.

His dual vocation (educator/pastor) has allowed him to minister to the needs of people holistically – spirit, soul and mind, the press release added.

“I am committed to working alongside our students, staff, families, stakeholders and partners to foster a school culture marked by discipline, resilience, innovation, excellence, compassion and integrity,” he said.

“The journey ahead is exciting, and I remain confident that the best is yet to come.”
