Volta Music Foundation is back in Anguilla for a free one-week intensive music programme designed to empower, educate and inspire young musicians.
The initiative includes three live educational concerts, daily intensive classes, and immersive development sessions for adult volunteers.
It is building upon the success of last July’s cultural exchange, a press release from Volta on 22 May explained.
The programme will culminate in a final concert on Friday, 31 May, at 6pm at Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School.
The students, adult volunteers, and Volta’s professional string quartet will showcase their talent and progress in a special performance open to the entire community.
Yalyen Savignon, foundation founder and executive director, said: “We believe in the transformative power of music to unite communities, build confidence and open doors to opportunity.
“Our goal is not only to teach music but to plant the seeds for a sustainable, locally led programme that will thrive in Anguilla for years to come.”
Volta’s professional string quartet will present three educational concerts at local primary schools to introduce classical string instruments and ignite interest in music among young audiences.
The group will host daily classes for students enrolled in the Volta programme, offering hands-on instruction with visiting teaching artists from Florida in violin, cello, viola and double bass.
It will also run adult volunteer development lessons and pedagogical training for the dedicated local adults who assist weekly with the programme..
These volunteers, who are learning to play and teach string instruments, will learn how to serve as Anguilla’s future beginner-level instructors.
