The arrest was made on 20 November following a report of an armed robbery, the Royal Anguilla Police Force said in a statement on 25 November.
Mardenborough was subsequently charged with robbery, possession of an imitation firearm and obstruction.
He was taken before the Magistrate’s Court on 22 November and remanded into custody at His Majesty’s Prison in The Valley.
In its statement, the police force urged the public to remain vigilant and take extra precautions for personal safety and property security during the festive season.
“As the Christmas season approaches, the Royal Anguilla Police Force emphasises the importance of self-protection and awareness to prevent becoming a victim of crime,” it said.
It encourages the public to be aware of surroundings, especially when carrying valuables, and avoid displaying expensive items or large amounts of cash in public.
The police force also asks residents to secure homes and vehicles, ensuring all locks and alarms are functioning, and report any suspicious activity to police immediately.
