The owners of a restaurant in Anguilla, which was destroyed by a fire this week, have launched a fundraising drive to raise enough money to rebuild.
D’BBQ Hut in The Valley, a Halal Trinidadian-style barbecue, was completely gutted by flames after a grease fire broke out in the kitchen on 13 January.
Muhammad Isa Baptiste and his family have said they welcome any support, whether monetary, material, or in the form of time and expertise, to help restore the business.
In a Facebook statement on 15 January, they wrote that it was “with heavy hearts” that they shared the devastating news.
“This accidental grease fire has left us without the tools and equipment that have been the cornerstone of our family’s livelihood,” the post said.
“We are thankful to report that both our staff and family are safe, and we are deeply grateful for your support during this difficult time.”
A brighter future
The family said they have been overwhelmed by the kindness and encouragement so many of have already shown, and the support gives them the strength to face the challenge head-on.
“For those who wish to assist in helping us rebuild and relaunch D’BBQ Hut, we humbly invite you to contribute in any way you are able,” they wrote.
“Whether you are able to make a monetary donation, donate materials, offer your time or expertise, or provide any other resources that may help, every form of support is deeply appreciated.
“Your contribution – big or small – will go directly toward restarting the business, replacing essential equipment, and helping us grow and expand D’BBQ Hut for a brighter future.”
