A new poultry hatchery and abattoir are on track to be operational in Anguilla by the end of October, the government has said.
According to a Facebook post on Sunday, 15 September, work on the farming spaces is progressing.
Dwight Carty and his team at the Department of Natural Resources have successfully tested some of the equipment, hatching eight ducks using the incubator, the post said.
The full plan for the space will be unveiled when Quincia Gumbs-Marie, the Minster of Sustainability, Innovation and Environment, returns to office at the end of September.
“Farmers can look forward to purchasing local broilers at competitive rates,” the post said.
They will also be able to access services for slaughtering, and benefit from increased market penetration, it added.
