Two serious incidents, both involving guns, took place in Anguilla on Monday, 30 December. No arrests have been made in connection with either case.
The first incident occurred shortly after 1am, according to a statement from the Royal Anguilla Police Force on 31 December.
An unknown individual or individuals shot a home in Island Harbour, damaging a bedroom and its furniture. The occupants were unharmed, fleeing to safety.
Later that day, at about 2.50pm, two masked men, dressed in black, targeted a lottery shop in Stoney Ground.
One suspect was armed with a suspected machine gun and the other with a handgun.
They reportedly approached the store, with one banging on the glass and demanding entry.
The suspects stole the cash till which contained about US$1,000, and as they fled, they forcibly stole a woman’s gold chain in a nearby yard.
The Royal Anguilla Police Force is urging anyone with information about either incident to come forward.
“Even small details could significantly assist in solving these cases and bringing those responsible to justice,” the police statement said.
