Police issue 22 tickets for speeding during ongoing traffic campaign

The Royal Anguilla Police Force issued 22 speeding tickets and one for failing to comply with a ‘no overtaking’ traffic sign during a recent road safety campaign.

Officers from the Traffic Department and the Beat and Patrol Department conducted roadside checks on Wednesday, 9 April, as part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic safety.

In a police statement on 10 April, Superintendent Vydia Harrigan, who is in charge of operations, said: “Road safety is not optional – it is a responsibility we all share.

“These enforcement operations are in place to save lives, no just to issue tickets. We encourage all drivers to slow down, stay alert, and obey the rules of the road.”

The statement included the reminder that speeding and disobeying road signs not only endanger drivers’ lives but the lives of others.

“We urge all motorists to drive responsibly and adhere to traffic laws. Let’s work together to make Anguilla’s roads safer for everyone,” it said.
