Man charged with three child sex offences among several granted bail

A 49-year-old man charged with three child sex offences is among several people who have been granted bail in Anguilla’s Magistrate’s Court.

The man, who has not been named to protect the identity of the alleged victim/s, was charged with unlawful sexual intercourse with a dependent child and two counts of indecent assault on a minor.

He was granted bail on 12 June in the sum of EC$100,000 with one surety and several conditions including no contact with the alleged victim or any witnesses and surrendering all travel documents.

The day prior on 11 June, Kirkland Spencer of The Valley, who was charged with obstruction, was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 with one surety.

His bail conditions included that he is to have no contact, whether directly or indirectly, with any witness known to him, a police press release said.

Sonni Gumbs of North Hill, was granted bail in his own recognisance in the sum of $2,000 in relation to a bench warrant.

Wendell Lake, 34, of Cauls Bottom, was charged with disorderly conduct and being armed with an offensive weapon.

He was granted bail in his own recognisance in the sum of $25,000 and the conditions to be of good behaviour and keep the peace, and not to interfere with prosecution witnesses.

On 6 June, Dexter Carty, 49, of Little Dix, who was charged with assault was granted bail in his own recognisance in the sum of $25,000.
