Fitness expert launches Anguilla’s first fully equipped Pilates studio

Fitness expert Hilroy Alfred has launched Anguilla’s first fully-equipped Pilates studio, introducing a new low-impact training option for the island’s residents and visitors.

KMA Pilates Studio opened its doors on Monday, 1 December, on the second floor of Tomac Plaza on Waterswamp Road in George Hill.

Alfred, who also runs the self-defence academy Krav Maga Anguilla (KMA), told Anguilla Focus that bringing Pilates to Anguilla was a natural extension of his fitness vision.

“I’m a fitness professional with a love and passion for all forms of movement. Fitness innovation has always been at the core of my career,” he said.

He explained that he has always focused on “pushing boundaries, taking risks and introducing new approaches to enhance the way people train”.

And while pilates is currently popular worldwide, he views it as a timeless and transformative method of movement rather than a trend.

“KMA Pilates Studio was created with longevity and purpose in mind, and we’re here to stay,” he said.

Pilates is a low-impact exercise method that focuses on strengthening the core, improving flexibility, posture and overall body alignment.

The new studio is equipped with two professional pilates reformers, a ladder barrel for corrective and mobility-focused exercises, and a variety of additional accessories.

“Every piece of equipment was selected to support both beginners and advanced clients in achieving optimal movement, strength and alignment,” he said.

Alfred believes that Pilates offers something valuable for everyone, whether the goal is strength, mobility, rehabilitation, improved posture or general wellness.

“Our community is filled with individuals who have different needs, injuries, lifestyles and fitness goals,” he said, adding: “Pilates meets people exactly where they are.

“It provides a low-impact, highly effective approach to training that supports functional movement and overall wellbeing.”

Group Pilates for all fitness levels takes place from Monday to Friday, while the reformer Pilates programme is available through private membership packages.

“Whether you’re a beginner, an athlete, recovering from injury or simply looking to improve your strength and mobility, there’s a programme designed for you,” Alfred said.
