Parents and guardians in Anguilla can now take advantage of a new opportunity to register children under six for free healthcare services.
It marks the start of the government’s Junior Shield programme, which aims to ensure that all young children have access to essential medical care at no cost.
Premier Ellis Webster, who also serves as the minister of health, shared the announcement on Facebook on Sunday, 12 January.
The post said registration officially begins on Monday, 13 January, and coverage for enrolled children will commence a week later, on 20 January.
The programme is open to a total of 1,056 children aged zero to five years, regardless of their immigration status, and allows them to access services at local public medical facilities.
To register, parents or guardians can visit the Ministry of Health office, located in the Caribbean Commercial Complex in The Valley from 8.30am to 12pm and from 1.30pm to 4pm.
To ensure a smooth registration process, applicants are required to bring the child’s birth certificate, government-issued immunisation card, and a photo ID of the parent or guardian.
These documents will be used for validation and approval, making it essential for families to prepare in advance.
Parents are encouraged to act quickly to ensure their children are enrolled in time for the programme’s start date.
Further details and updates about the programme will be shared on the government and Ministry of Health’s official channels.
The government’s Senior Shield programme, which was introduced in 2023, provides residents aged 70 years and older with access to free medical care.
