Young Anguillian athlete Keiarah Webster is competing in the AAU Junior Olympic Games in North Carolina this week.
She left for the competition with her father Kenti Webster on 26 July, according to a Facebook statement from the Anguilla Amateur Athletic Federation.
Up to 12,000 national-class youth athletes compete in the AAU Junior Olympic Games every year. This year the competition is taking place from 27 July to 3 August.
Keiarah secured her spot at the trials in Jacksonville, Florida, held from 9-13 July, where she qualified in the 800 metres run by placing fourth overall and in the 1,500m by finishing sixth.
“The Anguilla Amateur Athletic Federation, along with the Department of Sports, extends their best wishes to Miss Webster. We are all proudly cheering her on from Anguilla,” the post said.
