“Carlia has consistently showcased her quality both domestically and on the international stage,” the AFA said in a social media post on 15 July.

“Her move to Germany marks another significant milestone, not only in her football journey but also for women’s football in Anguilla.”

FC Magdeburg Frauen is the women’s section of historic German club 1 FC Magdeburg, which was founded in 1965 and is based in Saxony-Anhalt.

The AFA added that it is “incredibly proud to see one of our own take this next step and represent Anguilla on the international stage”.

Johnson’s former team Super Stars FC is one of Anguilla’s most successful women’s clubs, with multiple league titles and a long history of developing national team players.

On 4 July, they took home the 2026 AFL Women’s League Championship trophy and are through to the finals of the Women’s AFL Super Four 2026 to be held on 17 July.
