BermudAir to add nonstop flights between Newark and Anguilla this winter

BermudAir has announced plans to launch a twice weekly direct service between Newark and Anguilla this winter season, under its AnguillAir banner.

The flights will begin on 18 December and will operate every Thursday and Sunday until spring 2026, according to a press release from the Anguilla Tourist Board on 14 August.

They will leave Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) at 10.30am and arrive at Clayton J Lloyd International Airport (AXA) at 4pm, with return flights leaving 7.35pm and arriving at 11pm.

Tourism minister Cardigan Connor said the new connection will make it easier for visitors from key markets in the United States to experience the island’s beauty, accommodations and cultural heritage.

“The convenience of direct flights will undoubtedly attract more travellers and further establish Anguilla as a top Caribbean destination,” he said.

BermudAir previously announced non-stop winter services to Anguilla from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) in June.

Adam Scott, founder and CEO of BermudAir, said the company is “incredibly excited” to now connect Boston, Baltimore, and Newark in New Jersey directly to Anguilla.

“This expansion reflects the growing demand for seamless travel to this premium Caribbean destination,” he said.

“We believe these new routes will not only improve the travel experience for our passengers but also significantly boost tourism to Anguilla.”

Further collaboration

The Bermudan company paid a courtesy visit to Anguilla on 28 July where officials spoke with the government tourism leaders on the airline’s operations and opportunities for further collaboration.

The meeting discussed how BermudAir could showcase Anguilla’s identity by featuring local food, rum punch, locally sourced products, and inviting Anguillian designers to propose uniform designs.

Discussions also included potential adjustments to cutoff dates and strategies to incorporate local experience providers, including efforts to grow new sectors such as dive tourism.

Tourism director Jameel Rochester called the addition of BermudAir’s nonstop service from Newark “a tremendous win” for Anguilla’s tourism sector.

“With direct flights now available from Boston, Baltimore, and Newark, travellers from the US northeast have more convenient access than ever to our award-winning island,” he said.

“This enhanced connectivity not only makes it easier for guests to experience Anguilla’s pristine beaches, world-class cuisine, and warm hospitality, but also strengthens our position as the Caribbean’s premier luxury destination.”

The announcement comes just after Anguilla was once again named the ‘Best Island in the Caribbean‘ by Travel + Leisure magazine, securing the top spot for the fifth time.
