With fierce lyrics and fearless stage presence, nine junior performers brought rhythm and power to this year’s Junior Calypso Monarch competition.
Held at the Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre on 27 July, the vibrant musical event rounded off the opening weekend of the Anguilla Summer Festival.
Defending monarch Sabria Richardson, known as Singing Sabbie, delivered a commanding performance that won her the crown for a second consecutive year.
Lil Stinger, Aaliyah Webster Robinson, captured first runner-up with poise and presence, energising the crowd with sharp lyrics and powerful delivery.
And Princess Paige, Andeja Bremner, was awarded second runner-up, her song resonating across generations and drawing strong applause from the audience.
Other talented contenders included Ky’Li C Brooks-Gumbs – Singing KC, Andirian Fleming – Island Skippa, Roqué J’vonté Ajani Smith- Dragon Jr, Symiyah Bryan-Richardson – Symsation, Kaffon Carty – Mighty Kaffi, and Xaiya Gibbons – Singing Xai.
Each young performer brought one song and one shot to take the title, with themes ranging from self-worth to national pride.
The event, sponsored by ANGLEC and Young Hustlers New Generation (YHNG), was a celebration of youth, culture and calypso’s lasting legacy.
