Police are asking members of the public to avoid the area to allow emergency services and investigators to work safely and effectively.

“Anyone with information that may assist this investigation is urged to contact the Royal Anguilla Police Force,” the press release said.

This death marks the tenth homicide in Anguilla since the beginning of the year and the third in a week.

On 24 June, Jarmarie Richardson, 36, of Pond Ground was found dead inside a vehicle near Sile Bay beach with suspected gunshot wounds.

And 25-year-old Pajal Liburd from Rey Hill was fatally shot in a convenience store opposite Sol Gas Station on Albert Lake Drive in The Valley on 27 June.

In a video broadcast following the death of Liburd, Premier Cora Richardson Hodge urged the community to come together to “be part of the solution”.

“We must not normalise this pain,” she said, as she offered thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the latest victims.

At the time Acting Police Commissioner Haslyn Patterson called for help from every member of the community in Anguilla.

“If you know of a relative or anyone who is carrying guns, if you know where these firearms are kept, or how they are coming into this island, do not wait until another life is lost,” he said.

Also speaking after the murder of Liburd, Governor Julia Crouch urged anyone with knowledge of the crimes – no matter how minor it may seem – to come forward.

“We need Anguillians to come together. We must not allow fear or violence to define us,” she said.
