Two more arrested and released over courthouse murder

Three people in total have been arrested in connection to the murder of a 33-year-old man in a vehicle outside Anguilla Courthouse last week – and then later released.

Officers from the Royal Anguilla Police Force made the first arrest on 19 July – the same day as the deadly shooting.

They released the arrestee three days later on 22 July after thorough questioning and examination and they are no longer a person of interest in the case.

“It’s been one week since the brazen mid-morning shooting at the courthouse, where we tragically lost a member of our community,” police said in a statement on 26 July.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

“Since then, three individuals have been arrested and discharged as our investigations continue, we are pursuing active lines of inquiry.”

man from Bad Cox Pond was shot and killed at about 10.40am on 19 July in a vehicle outside the court, which he was due to attend that morning.

His was the sixth shooting death in Anguilla since the start of the year – one of which was the police shooting of a 19-year-old during an suspected armed robbery.
