Three elected officials of the Anguilla House of Assembly have been appointed to serve as members of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Assembly for a two year term.
They are Premier Cora Richardson Hodge, opposition leader Ellis Webster and social development minister Shellya Rogers-Webster.
The appointed members will represent Anguilla in the OECS Assembly and participate in its deliberations in accordance with the established rules and procedures from 2025 to 2027.
The parliamentary clerk will notify the OECS Commission of the appointments, and they will sit for the first time during the seventh sitting of the OECS Assembly.
Cora Richardson Hodge presented the motion for the appointments during a sitting of the Anguilla House of Assembly on 24 June.
She explained that the Revised Treaty of Basseterre provides for the establishment of the OECS Assembly as an organ of the OECS.
It is composed of representatives from the national legislatures of member states and associated states.
Anguilla, as an associated state of the OECS, is entitled to appoint three representatives to the OECS Assembly.
The OECS Assembly serves as a deliberative forum for the discussion of issues affecting the OECS Economic Union and the wider region.
The motion received unanimous support in the Anguilla House of Assembly.
