‘Reckless act of violence’
Commissioner of Police Robert Clark strongly condemned the incident, stating: “This was not only a reckless act of violence but an attack on the economic wellbeing of Anguilla.
“The Blowing Point Ferry Terminal is one of our island’s most vital ports of entry – a gateway that connects us to the region and the world. To target any location with gunfire is unconscionable.”
“We urge those involved to search their conscience. Someone knows who did this. Do the right thing. Submit what you know through secureaxa.com – anonymously and safely.
“We cannot allow fear to take hold in our communities.”
The police chief added that the trauma caused by such violence “touches every corner of our society” and reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to justice and public safety.
‘This is not who we are’
Clark condemned the incident which he said was not a reflection on the people of the island and called for unity in its aftermath.
“Anguillians, residents, and visitors – this is not who we are. A peaceful, loving people were shaken today by a senseless act,” he said.
“We stand in solidarity with the victims and call for a unified rejection of violence.”
Since the start of the year there have been five homicides reported and no charges filed in any of the cases.
