The F5 Tornado claimed first place in the James Ronald Webster B-Class boat race on 3 March, marking the highly anticipated start of the boat racing season in Anguilla.
The race, which started and ended in Sandy Ground, saw competitors complete a full circuit around the island, testing both their skill and endurance.
It was an exciting competition that featured thrilling moments as the boats sped around the island, showcasing the incredible talent of Anguilla’s sailors.
After the F5 Tornado made it past the finishing line, coming in second was Stay Up, third was Hurricane, fourth Legal Rights, taking the fifth position was De Storm and in sixth place was Kedro Pride.

The prizes were substantial with the F5 Tornado crew walking away with EC$5,000, Stay Up receiving $4,250, Hurricane taking $3,750, Legal Rights $3,250 and De Storm getting $2,750.
All the remaining boats were awarded $1,500 for their participation.
The boat race took place on James Ronald Webster Day – a public holiday in Anguilla that commemorates the birth of the ‘Father of Anguilla’ in 1926.

The next race of the season – the 18 Degrees B-Class – takes place on 9 March from Sandy Ground and will see competitors travel two laps.
The first prize winner will receive $800, second prize is $700, third prize is $600, the fourth prize winner will get $500 and all the remaining participants will receive $150.
The boat racing season continues until 10 August. The Anguilla Boat Racing Association has detailed a list of this year’s races below. The times and routes are to be confirmed.
