Boat captain, 37, charged with gun and ammunition possession

A 37-year-old boat captain from Rey Hill has been arrested and charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Jason Ruan appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 6 December, where he was awarded bail at EC$60,000 with $10,000 as a cash bond and one surety.

According to a press release from the Royal Anguilla Police Force, officers from the VIPER Team executed a search warrant at the home of the accused on 3 December.

During the operation, they recovered one firearm and 11 rounds of ammunition.

Commissioner of Police Robert Clark said the police force remains committed to removing illegal firearms and ammunition from Anguilla’s communities.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all Anguillians,” he said.

“I commend our VIPER Team for their professionalism and dedication in carrying out their duties. Your hard work is making a positive impact on the safety of our island.”

Ruan is scheduled to reappear before the court on 13 March, 2025, at 9am.
