Rey Hill man charged with possession of illegal gun and drugs

A 48-year-old man from Rey Hill has been charged with the possession of an illegal gun, ammunition, cocaine and cannabis.

Cleston Adams was arrested on 23 October following investigations and charged with the offences on 24 October, a statement from the Royal Anguilla Police Force said.

After his initial appearance in Magistrate’s Court on 25 October, he reappeared for a bail hearing on 26 October where his request for bail was denied and he was remanded to prison.

Adams faces gun charges for possession of a firearm without a firearm users licence, and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a firearm users licence.

His drugs charges include possession of a controlled drug (cocaine) with intent to supply and possession of a controlled drug (cannabis) with intent to supply.

Commissioner of Police Robert Clark said: “Illegal firearms and drug distribution pose a significant threat to the safety and security of our community.

“The Royal Anguilla Police Force is determined to eradicate these dangers from our island. We will continue to carry out rigorous investigations and enforce the law to protect our citizens.

“The RAPF remains committed to ensuring that those who bring illegal firearms and drugs into our community are held accountable.”
