Tranquility Beach Anguilla secures approval for US$21m expansion on Meads Bay

Luxury boutique resort Tranquility Beach Anguilla has signed an agreement with the government to advance a US$21 million beachfront expansion on Meads Bay.

Plans for the resort’s second phase – which will be located just a few blocks west from the original property – include two buildings containing 17 units, a reception, a pool and outdoor lounge area.

Preliminary works are expected to begin at the end of the year, with construction set to start in early 2027 and run through to the end of 2028.

Tranquility Beach Anguilla launched its first phase in 2020, which features 15 one- and two-bedroom condominiums and three-bedroom penthouse villas, along with amenities.

Each of the units, most of which are now individually owned, feature a kitchen and a private outdoor terrace with a hot tub and personalised service from a concierge team.

The resort has become an established luxury destination on Anguilla’s northwest coast, winning multiple awards for its design, service and overall guest experience.

On 12 June, representatives from the property met with government officials to put their names to the first supplementary agreement to the memorandum of understanding (MoU), formally agreeing the next stage.

Ian ‘Sugar George’ Edwards, who designed and co-developed the luxury resort alongside Anguilla home owner, investor and philanthropist Neil Freeman, attended on behalf of the resort.

Economic development minister Kyle Hodge praised the resort developers for “the jobs it has created, the economic activity it has generated and the quality tourism product it has brought to Anguilla”.

“I have every confidence that Tranquility Beach phase two will be equally, if not more, successful than the first phase,” he added in a press release.

Hodge congratulated the entire Tranquility Beach Anguilla team on their hard work, dedication and commitment, saying these efforts have formed the backbone of the project’s success.

“We look forward to seeing this next chapter unfold and to the continued positive impact this investment will have on Anguilla’s economy and tourism industry,” the minister added.

Tranquility Beach Anguilla has earned Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice awards for four consecutive years, including the number one spot on Tripadvisor’s Small and Boutique – Caribbean list in 2025.

In addition, readers of Caribbean Journal named it Best Boutique Hotel Anguilla 2023, while Forbes included it among the 10 Best Anguilla Hotels 2024 as Hotel with the Best Amenities.

Tranquility Beach Anguilla will announce further details of the second-stage development, including building specifications, at a commercial and media launch later this year.
